The college ministry at the harbor exists for essentially the same INCREDIBLE reasons that the harbor itself exists as a church. At the harbor, our desire is to be a haven for the broken and a launch to the nations. And that it would be a place where God is loved, Jesus is proclaimed, and life is shared.

I (John) was reading a book the other day about making the most of life during college and in this book, which is called the fuel and the flame* , the author writes down what he would consider his own personal definition of college next to webster's definition of college. I thought this was an interesting exercise. Here are the two definitions mentioned in the book...

college (Webster's definition): an independent institution of higher learning offering a course of general studies leading to a bachelor's degree.

college (author's definition): a four (or more!) year window in a person's life when God has maximum opportunity to build a foundation into a life lived for Him.

Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with these definitions, I like the way the author (his name is Steve) offers a God-perspective on this VITAL season of life. I think an important question for each of us to ask ourself is "what exactly should define my college years anyway?" So regardless of whether you answer that question with some, lots, or no God perspective... we at the harbor would LOVE to be involved as you think through the ideas, experiences, and relationships that you want to have define your college years.

Hope to talk to you and see you soon!

John
