For several reasons, we at the Harbor encourage our people to actively engage in one of our weeknight Faithgroups. In the consistency, safety, and transparency of our small groups... - we experience authentic community in one another’s homes
- we can practically obey the many “love one another” scriptures
- we develop our various gifts: motivational, practical, spiritual
- we become mature by facing the challenges of living in community
- two of our greatest needs—to be known and to be loved—can get healthily met
- we can invite unbelieving friends who are more comfortable with relational /home settings
Although different Faithgroups may have differing scopes—some may focus on a population such as college students, others on a particular biblical study, yet others on a certain recreational activity—all are designed to draw those attending closer to God and to one another.
In addition, our Faithgroups are the main vehicle by which we practically serve the communities of Beverly and the North Shore. Service projects, outreach events and other community initiatives are best organized and carried out by the Faithgroups.
Finally, as a church that feels called to establish the justice of Christ by planting other churches all over the world, we find that the Faithgroup model, because it is so highly relational, is the most reproducible one in other cultures, especially those where persecution of followers of Christ is prevalent.
The motto and mission of the Harbor are best realized through our Faithgroups!
haven for the broken, launch to the nations
loving God sharing Life proclaiming Jesus
