Worship at The Harbor

Our Sunday celebration services, taking place in the gymnasium of the Cabot Street YMCA in Beverly, are held in the belief that one longing of the human heart is to experience the manifest presence of God in community.

worshiponeWe enjoy an extended time of contemporary worship, providing the time and space necessary to allow people to connect with God and, if they desire, with one another, in prayer.

A member of the church leadership team or an invited guest brings a message of exhortation, encouraging those present to respond wholeheartedly to the various appeals of the gospel. A brief response time follows, allowing those present to respond as they see fit: in silent contemplation, in worship, or in prayer with a friend, for example.

Family functions of the celebration service include sharing community announcements, taking up offerings for the church and for other community or global initiatives, the baptism of new followers of Jesus (in the basement pool!), and various presentations by church members.

Meeting in a gym, we tend to be more relaxed than formal, friendly but not in-your-face, and the occasional pick-up basketball game has been known to break out after a really good message.
